Ceremony, light show to commemorate Halifax Explosion

It’s been 107 years since the Halifax Explosion.

The HRM will host a memorial service at 9 a.m.

Wreaths will be laid at the Fort Needham Memorial Park.

The ceremony includes a moment of silence for the 2,000 killed, and a recognition of over 9,000 who survived.

Later in the evening and Saturday night, the Downtown Halifax Business Commission will show light projection shows on the former library in Grafton Park to honour the heroes of the explosion.
