Planned outage in Lunenberg leaves people without power longer than expected

A prolonged power outage in the Lunenberg area left many people without power longer than they expected on a very chilly day.

The scheduled outage started at 11 p.m. on Saturday evening in Lunenberg, LaHave, Riverport, Rose Bay, Mahone Bay and the surrounding areas.

It was supposed to be finished by 7 a.m. on Sunday.

But Nova Scotia power says there was issues with their equipment that delayed power being restored.

Most homes have the lights back on.

But at least 18 still don’t have electricity.

The power utility says things should be up and running again for those folks by 10 a.m.
