Two seniors had life-threatening injuries after transport truck collision

Two seniors had life-threatening injuries after their SUV hit a transport truck.

At about 11 a.m. on Wednesday , Shelburne RCMP, fire crews and emergency services responded to the crash on Highway 103, at exit 26, the intersection of Ohio Road, according to a news release.

Officers say the the Chevrolet Equinox was turning into the highway when the truck, heading east, hit the SUV.

A 67-year-old woman was driving the Chevrolet, and a 64-year-old woman was in the passenger seat. Both are from Caledonia and were taken to a hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 23-year-old from Halifax, was uninjured.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene.

The Highway was closed for several hours but since reopened.

The investigation continues.
