2nd man charged in connection with Cape Breton homicide investigation

Cape Breton Regional Police have charged a second person in connection to the disappearance of Kenneth “Justin” MacDonald.

On November 19th, police said the investigation of the 34-year-old missing man in North Sydney is being treated as a homicide under the province’s major crimes unit.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in Reserve Mines on Friday. Police say he is charged with 2nd degree murder and robbery. He is now remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

A 38-year-old man was charged n Sydney on December 12th with manslaughter in connection with the case.

Police say no additional details can be released while the investigation remains ongoing with more arrests and charges pending.

Justin MacDonald is described as 5’9” tall and 240 pounds, with sandy blond hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen on July 7th at about 11 p.m. at the Irving gas station at 183 Commercial Street, North Sydney, where he was captured on store video.

Police later located MacDonald’s blue Kia Forte in the Ormond Crescent area of Mira Road in the CBRM.

Police say K9 units, drones and ground search and rescue have attempted to find him.
