Halifax Thunderbirds suspend player Tyson Bell after incident at Colorado game

A Halifax Thunderbirds player has been suspended following an incident over the Christmas holidays.

The team made the announcement about Tyson Bell on X, Thursday morning, following an alleged incident involving fans at a game in Colorado, December 21.

It is not clear at this time how long Bell will remain out of the game.

It comes just days after a video surfaced on social media where it appears a player punched one spectator and used a lacrosse stick, to hit another.

The League will not identify the suspect, but in an email to our newsroom, the Denver Police Department says Bell has been cited for assault.

In a statement on X, The National Lacrosse League says it has launched an investigation in the matter and will not provide more information until that is concluded.

The Halifax Thunderbirds popularity has been soaring over the last couple of years.

The team ended last season with a bang with their first-ever sold-out crowd.

The Thunderbirds are set to host the Albany FireWolves at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Saturday night.
