NDP Caucus hold first retreat in Bridgewater as official opposition before spring sitting

The NSNDP Caucus is in Bridgewater this week.

The official opposition is holding their first retreat, Monday and Tuesday, ahead of the spring sitting of legislature with plans to discuss the upcoming spring budget, priorities and policies.

Leader Claudia Chender says they are dedicated to doing the work to make sure the needs of Nova Scotians come first.

“Nova Scotians deserve a strong opposition that will fight to make life better for everyone.”

The NDP says they will fight for things like homes people can afford, lowering the cost of necessities like groceries and power bills as well as reliable healthcare.

NSNDP Caucus Chair, Susan LeBlanc says, the PCs are focused on their “well-connected” friends, while the NDP is looking to give everyone a break.

The NDP became the official opposition after the Liberals suffered a devastating defeat in the municipal election in October, while the PC’s gained a supermajority government.

The spring session of the legislature begins February 14.
