Call for N.S. Medal of Bravery nominations

You can now nominate a Nova Scotian for the province’s highest recognition for bravery.

First introduced in 2008, the Medal of Bravery recognizes those who performed heroic deeds beyond what is expected of them. Fifty-five Nova Scotians have been awarded so far.

Brave acts that occurred on or after January 1, 2022, are eligible, whether they took place in the province or not.

In a release, Premier Tim Houston says, “As Nova Scotians, we pull together, we watch out for one another, and we rise to the challenge time and time again. The Medal of Bravery is an opportunity to recognize the everyday heroes among us who – when faced with immediate danger – showed remarkable courage and bravery.”

Nomination forms are available at Access Nova Scotia centres, MLA offices and online.

The deadline for nominations is May 1st.
