Woman accused of stabbing boy will undergo psych assessment

A woman accused of stabbing a young boy in Halifax will go through a psychiatric assessment.

Elliott Chorny, 19, allegedly stabbed a six-year-old boy several times near a bus terminal on February 23rd.

According to multiple reports, the assessment will evaluate whether she can be held criminally responsible for her attempted murder charge.

Chorny appeared in court from jail on Thursday morning. She is also accused of assaulting a psychiatrist on Jan. 27 at the Halifax Infirmary.

Her mother has said the family tried to get her help. She said they warned authorities that she could be dangerous without it.
