Lunenberg power should come back Thursday afternoon, says town

Power for some in Lunenberg should be back on this afternoon.

The outage was caused by a hydro pole that caught fire last night in the Starr Street Area.

The town says work to fix the ongoing outage couldn’t happen safely last night.

So crews began restoration efforts this morning. They estimate the lights will come back on between noon and 2 p.m.

Nearly 1,400 residences are affected from the Esso station and daycare, through Old Town and the Academy,
along the waterfront and out to the Blue Rocks and Garden Lots, according to a news release from the town.

The Lunenberg Fire Department at 25 Medway Street is open for people who need to use power, and the Community Centre is also open with all scheduled programs, according to a spokesperson from the town. The Town Hall is closed but will reopen when power is restored.

They ask people to check in on their neighbours to share the updates with anyone affected by the outage.
