Fatal fire in Colchester County

RCMP are investigating a fatal house fire in Colchester County.

Crews responded to a home on Alton Road in Stewiacke at 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say it was fully engulfed in flames when officers arrived.

When the fire was extinguished, human remains were found inside.

Police say the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal’s Office and the Medical Examiner Service.
