Three charged after shooting on Gottingen Street Thursday afternoon

Three people are facing charges in a shooting that happened Thursday afternoon in downtown Halifax.

Police say it happened around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Buddy Daye Street and Gottingen Street, but no one was reported injured.

The three suspects drove away in a vehicle before officers arrived at the scene, according to a social media post from Halifax Regional Police.

At about 10 p.m., officers, crisis negotiators and a K9 team used a warrant to search a home in the 3400 block of Barrington Street. They arrested three people who lived there and seized a gun.

A 46-year-old woman, a 17-year-old youth, and a 20-year-old face charges for:

  • possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted gun
  • unauthorized possession of a gun
  • unsafely storing a gun

The 20-year-old faces additional charges of:

  • shooting a gun with intent
  • using a gun for a crime
  • pointing a gun
  • possessing a gun knowing its possession is illegal
  • possessing a gun in a vehicle
  • possessing a weapon dangerous to public peace

Police ask anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to contact them at 902-490-5020.
