IWK Champion Matthew LeBlanc passes away at 13

An IWK Children’s Miracle Network Champion has passed away.

Matthew LeBlanc from Cape Breton died on July 4th at age 13.

The IWK Foundation says he faced his many health challenges with strength and courage.

LeBlanc proudly served as the hospital’s Champion Child in 2023.

According to his obituary, he “was full of life performing for any audience, cracking the best one-liners” and “was a born entertainer with a heart that loved big.”

A celebration of life will be held at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.

LEGO kits will be collected and donated in LeBlanc’s name for children at the IWK Health Centre to enjoy.
