Heat warning remains, records set in N.S. Wednesday

Maritimers are sweating it out with record highs and more hot, humid weather.

In Nova Scotia, 32.1 Celsius was recorded at Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Wednesday, up a degree from 1998 on the same date.

Port Hawkesbury maxed out at 31.8, beating 2016’s high of 29.5.

The Truro area set a record of 32.2. The old record was 31.7 in 1906.

Kejimkujik Park was the hottest spot in the province, at 32.9, compared to the old record of 32.2 set in 2016.

Environment Canada notes that the records reported for July 16th “may contain preliminary or unofficial information that does not constitute a complete or final report.”

While the heat warning remains in effect for Thursday, the forecaster says it should cool off Friday.
