In 1958 LEGO finalized the brick design we still use today

Late January marks the era when LEGO finalized the brick design we still use today. In 1958, LEGO patented the modern interlocking system, the tiny tubes inside the brick that give it grip and stability. That one change turned loose stacking blocks into a true building system. What’s wild is the precision: LEGO bricks are manufactured with tolerances of about two microns, which is thinner than a human hair. That’s why bricks made in the 1960s still connect perfectly with sets you buy today. It’s one of the rare examples of industrial design that was so well executed it never needed a redesign, just new ideas built on top of it. Below is a video on how Lego Bricks are made today! Check it out!
