Some big names are being recognized for something that doesn’t always get the spotlight, the songwriting itself. The 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees were just announced, and the list is stacked. Taylor Swift is heading in this year, and that alone is huge, her songwriting has shaped modern pop in a way that’s hard to argue with, and she’s bringing a lot of new attention to what this hall actually celebrates. You’ve also got Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS, being honoured for writing rock staples like Rock and Roll All Nite and I Love It Loud, plus legends like Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and producer-songwriter Tricky Stewart, whose work includes Umbrella, Single Ladies, and Break My Soul. What’s cool about this hall is that it doesn’t just celebrate performers, it honours the people behind the songs that define generations. As Nile Rodgers put it, everything in music starts with the song and the songwriter. The induction ceremony happens June 11 in New York, and this year’s class really shows how many different genres can shape culture the same way.
