CUPE workers at Town of Bridgewater vote 100 per cent in favour of strike

A labour dispute is brewing at the Town of Bridgewater.

One hundred percent of unionized municipal workers have voted in favour of a strike.

CUPE local 1092 filed for conciliation in May, and say they want a deal that acknowledges their pivotal role in the community.

In a release, President Megan Daurie says offers from the town don’t address their concerns, including low wages, banked overtime cuts and limiting long-term disability.

Talks between the two sides are expected to resume on Monday.
