Macdonald Bridge closed Friday night to Sunday morning

You may want to give yourself extra time if you’re heading to the Mooseheads home opener at Scotiabank Centre Saturday night.

Halifax Harbour Bridges says delays are possible with the closure of the Macdonald Bridge from 8 p.m. Friday until 5:30 a.m. Monday.

It will be off-limits to motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, but the Mackay will remain open.

Free Halifax Transit tickets will be available to impacted pedestrians and cyclists at the Macdonald Bridge Operation Centre on Wyse Road.

The weekend closure is so crews can remove the overhead platform and sidewalk shed used at the Dartmouth Tower during Phase 1 of a project to preserve the bridge’s iconic steel towers.
