Truckers gear up for Special Olympics convoy in Dartmouth

Honk for a great cause!

The 14th Annual Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Nova Scotia will take place Saturday.

Truckers from the province and beyond will unite with law enforcement officers to raise funds to support training, programs and competitions for the athletes.

According to the convoy’s Facebook page, they will leave CFB Shearwater at 11 a.m. and roll through Dartmouth and Cole Harbour before returning to Eastern Passage:

-Leave CFB Shearwater through Main Entrance on Hines Road
– Turn right onto Main Road/NS-322 N
– Continue to follow Main Road/NS-322 N for 3.3 km
– Turn right onto Highway of Heroes – NS-111 N for 3.0 km
– Take exit 7 toward Woodlawn Road/Cole Harbour
– Merge onto Portland St/NS-207 E
– Head East on Portland St/NS-207 E continue to follow Portland Street NS-207 E for 2.8 km
– Turn right onto Caldwell Road for 6.3 km
– Turn left to stay on Caldwell Road for 3.4 km
** QUIET ZONE will be located between Marine Dr./Cow Bay Rd. and Murray Rd. **
– Turn right onto Shore Road, head west on Shore Road for 2.7 km
– Slight left onto Main Road, Eastern Passage, NS for 2.5 km

If you can’t get out to cheer on the big rigs, you can also watch the convoy live online.

Last year’s event was the #1 Convoy in North America supporting Special Olympics, with 225 trucks and more than $160,000 raised.
