A Halifax police officer has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly selling stolen property, including bicycles and other property.
The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) were notified of the allegations by another Halifax police officer on Sept. 4.
Const. Fallon Sarah Clarke was charged on Monday with breaching trust in her role, false pretence, as well as obstructing another officer’s duties, and possessing property obtained by crime that is worth more than $5000, according to a news release from SiRT.
She will appear in court Nov. 27.
Police Chief Don MacLean says Const. Clarke was suspended with pay since the investigation started and will continue to be suspended until the case goes through the court.
“Whether at work or on our own time, there is an expectation that police officers are leaders in the community, particularly when it comes to upholding the law,” wrote MacLean in a statement.
“As Chief, I am disappointed. I expect better and the public deserves better.”
He says the force will not let the actions of one officer define them and that they operate with the “highest standard of integrity.”
