Man arrested for murder of 70-year-old: police

Halifax police have arrested a man in relation to the murder of a 70-year-old man last week.

Officers got a call around 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 about an injured man at a home on Richmond Street.

First responders tried to save him but the man, who police identified as Brian David Johnson, was pronounced dead.

On Nov. 4, shortly after 8 p.m., police arrested a 56-year-old man for the murder.

He will appear in court Thursday.

Police say they do not believe the incident was random, and because of the ongoing investigation, they will not reveal any more details yet.
