RCMP investigate fatal collision involving pedestrian and vehicle in the Valley

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Annapolis County.

The RCMP says it happened on Monday around 6:30 p.m. in Granville Beach.

Responding officers learned that two women were assisting a man who had been driving a Mitsubishi Outlander, which was stopped on the side of Granville Road.

One of the women was hit by a Hyundai Elantra.

Police say the 65-year-old Karsdale woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man the women were helping showed signs of impairment, prompting investigators to conduct a roadside breathalyzer test, which he failed.

Police arrested the 74-year-old man from Port Wade and charged him with impaired driving.

He was released and is scheduled to appear in Annapolis Royal Provincial Court.

The investigation is ongoing.
