The province will sell its remaining alcohol from the United States with proceeds to help address hunger.
Nova Scotia pulled all U.S. alcohol products from shelves on March 4th in response to tariffs.
According to a release, the $14, 000,000 of inventory consists of mainly of wine and spirits.
The net profit — an estimated $4,000,000 — will go to Feed Nova Scotia and other community food organizations.
In a statement, Premier Tim Houston says, “We remain committed to a Team Canada approach to tariffs and trade. We will not be ordering any more from the United States once this inventory is gone. But Nova Scotians have already paid for this product. We don’t want it to go to waste. That’s why we’re selling it and using the proceeds to help those in need.”
It will be available at NSLC locations starting December 1st and is expected to take several months to sell.
Some provinces and territories, including New Brunswick, British Columbia and the Yukon, have already sold their remaining U.S. alcohol.
