Covid-19 pandemic reaches three-year mark

It’s been exactly three years since the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic due to Covid-19, on March 11, 2020.

We’ve returned to normal in most cases, with masks no longer necessary in many places, and gatherings and social events once again in full swing.

However, local infectious disease specialist Dr. Lisa Barrett told CTV news, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about the virus.

“We actually don’t understand all of the complications in other parts of our body about Covid yet, and it’s why we still should care and still should test,” Barret said.

Barrett added it’s important to wear a mask when you’re sick, and to get the vaccine especially for seniors and those immunocompromised.

There’s been over 140,000 thousand confirmed cases in NS, with close to 800 deaths.
