July COVID Report Records Fewer Deaths, More Hospitalizations For N.S.

COVID hospitalizations were up last month in Nova Scotia, but the number of deaths decreased compared to June.

The province has released an epidemiologic summary of the month of July.

Nine deaths occurred last month, two-thirds were over the age of 70.

There were 20 deaths related to COVID in June.

The report says 225 people were hospitalized in July, that’s 77 more than the previous month.

The province says a lack of vaccination continues to be associated with severe outcomes.

Unvaccinated Nova Scotians were hospitalized nearly four times more than those with at least three doses.
