A top-Mountie in Nova Scotia is repeating allegations of political interference in the investigation into the Nova Scotia Mass Shootings.
Chief Superintendent Darren Campbell told a House of Commons committee yesterday that RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki became angry during an April, 2020 phone call after a news conference about the shootings.
He alleges Lucki was upset that information about the guns used was not released.
Campbell has alleged that Lucki promised the Prime Minister’s office those details would be released, to help advance gun-control legislation, even though he insisted the information could hurt the investigation.
He says Lucki said it was ‘tied to pending legislation that would make officers and the public safer.’
Both Lucki and former Public Safety Minister Bill Blair have denied the allegations.
The House of Commons committee voted to adjourn its study, and will meet in-camera next month.
