62-year-old Halifax man dead after boating collision in Digby County

A tragic end to a search for a missing boater in Digby County.

The body of a 62-year-old man from Halifax was recovered Sunday night, according to RCMP.

A team of about 60 people were looking for the man in Eel Lake, near Saulnierville Station since Friday afternoon.

Police say a 14-foot aluminum boat, under power and travelling at speed, collided with a stationary 12-foot boat in the narrow part of the lake around 5pm Friday.

As a result, both men in the 14-foot boat, went into the water. Neither of the men were wearing a life jacket. One was rescued.

Both boats have been seized and the investigation continues. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Meteghan RCMP at 902-645-2326.
