Nova Scotia celebrates school support staff amid wage negotiations

Thousands of school support staff could go on strike this week in Nova Scotia, but the province is going ahead with education week celebrations.

The official twitter page for Nova Scotia Education and Early Childhood Development shared a post about a ceremony recognizing the province’s teachers, administrators and support staff.

People where quick to point out the irony of the event in the replies, as those very same support staff continue negotiations with the province over fair wages.

CUPE’s Nova Scotia School Board Council of Unions represents over 5,000 workers who say they will be in an official strike position as of Friday if both sides cannot reach an agreement.
