Nova Scotia man charged with abduction after Amber Alert in Quebec

A Nova Scotia man has been charged with abduction after an Amber Alert in Quebec.

Police say the 31-year-old from Lanesville, a town near Stewiacke, stopped for gas in a town near Trois-Rivieres, but couldn’t pay for the fuel. The clerk became concerned for the baby with him, took pictures of the man, the baby, the vehicle as well as his Nova Scotia license plate, and contacted law enforcement.

Colchester County District RCMP investigated, then issued an Amber Alert.

The man, related to the infant, was arrested, and the baby returned to her family in Stewiacke.

He is scheduled to appear in court today.
