Three men convicted in Yarmouth homicide

All three men charged in a homicide from 2021, have been convicted.

41-year-old Kyle Van Drunen was shot outside a home on King St in Yarmouth May 24, two years ago.

He was taken to hospital, where he died from his injuries.

James Spurrell plead guilty June 23, to Manslaughter with a Firearm and was sentenced to 5 years at a federal facility.

Gordon Hein pleaded guilty June 8 to Assault with a Weapon, when he sprayed pepper spray on Van Drunen after he was shot. And as a result of prior convictions from 2020 and 2021, was sentenced to 6 years in a federal facility.

Herbert Spurrell pleaded guilty March 30, to Accessory after the Fact and was sentenced to 2 years at a provincial facility.
