Nova Scotia woman sentenced after 5 animals found in distress

A Nova Scotia woman has been sentenced after five animals were found in distress.

In September the SPCA received a complaint about the welfare of animals.

After searching a property, officers found three dogs and two cats to be in critical distress in unsanitary living conditions.

The 40-year-old from Caribou Marsh is banned from owning animals for 10 years, must pay a restitution fee of $3, 371.77 and a $500 fine.

The animals were taken away and have all made full recoveries
