A recent cannabis seizure in Moncton is believed to be the largest in Atlantic Canada.
Justice and Public Safety officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Aug. 30.
They seized more than 432 kilograms of dried cannabis, valued at more than $1.4 million.
Other items seized include:
- 8,080 pre-rolled cannabis joints
- 1,658 edible products
- 925 electronic vape products
- 241 grams of cannabis derivatives
- 540 grams of hashish
- one kilogram of THC crystals
- $143,485 in cash
Officials believe the cannabis products were destined for more than 30 unlicensed dispensaries in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Quebec.
“This seizure will disrupt the distribution network of dozens of unlicensed cannabis dispensaries, not only in New Brunswick but throughout Canada,” Public Safety Minister Kris Austin said in a news release.
“This is crucial, as illegal cannabis contributes to and supports organized crime.”
A 45-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man, both from Scarborough, Ont., and a 53-year-old man from Markham, Ont., were arrested.
All three face charges under the federal Cannabis Act and Criminal Code and are scheduled to appear in court in November.
