RCMP investigating two reports of sexual assault in Richmond County

RCMP in Richmond County is investigating two reports of sexual assault in the community of Cape Auguet.

Investigators are looking into one incident on August 23 and another on August 27.

Both incidents involve the same victim and a suspect described as a man with light coloured hair and an accent who was driving a blue Honda Civic with a Nova Scotia license plate.

In the August 27 incident, however, he was on foot and wearing a wetsuit.

As part of the investigation, officers have taken numerous statements, conducted neighbourhood inquiries by going door to door, and reviewed surveillance video.

To date, officers haven’t received any information about further sightings of the suspect vehicle or a person matching the suspect description.

If new information becomes available through the investigation that leads officers to believe there is a risk to the public, a media release will be issued to advise the public.

The RCMP investigates reports of sexual assault promptly and thoroughly, with sensitivity and without bias; all reports are referred to victim services so that optimal support can be provided to the victim.
