Governor General’s first official Nova Scotia visit

The Governor General of Canada is kicking off her first official visit to Nova Scotia Wednesday after being in PEI.

According to a release, the Right Honourable Mary Simon’s visits are focusing on reconciliation, mental health, climate change and Canada’s history. They’ll also highlight the efforts of first responders and community members during recent wildfires.

As commander-in-chief of Canada, she’ll also meet with Canadian Armed Forces members.

Among stops on the Governor General’s itinerary will be an official reception hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, the 250th anniversary of the arrival of the Ship Hector in Pictou, and the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia.
