CN renames Rockingham Yard

CN’s Rockingham Yard on the Bedford Highway has been renamed Pace Yard after a former board chair who made enormous contributions to the company’s growth.

Native Haligonian, Robert Pace, was an independent Board Director of the Company from 1994, and Chair of the Board from 2014, until his retirement in 2022.

When he retired, CN bestowed him with the title Chair Emeritus.

According to a release, Pace helped spark CN’s transformation from an inefficient crown corporation into a transportation and supply chain leader.

Trains have passed through Rockingham since the Nova Scotia Railway was constructed in 1855.

Later, the Intercolonial Railway, which eventually became part of CN, called the Yard home.
