55-year-old man dies in Truro industrial accident

A 55-year-old man from Ontario is dead following an industrial accident in Truro.

Truro Police say the man became trapped after materials shifted, leaving him with fatal injuries.

Police say they were able to make contact with the man’s family in Ontario but are withholding his name out of consideration for his loved ones.

The accident happened at Northeast Nutrition, a federally regulated worksite. A spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration provided the following statement:

“We are aware of the incident in question. As this is a federally regulated worksite, Employment and Social Development Canada is the lead department. We will offer support to our federal colleagues if requested.”

Last year, 24 Nova Scotians died at work or because of their work
