Body found near vehicle of missing Cape Breton man

A body was discovered near a vehicle belonging to an 87-year-old missing man who was the subject of a province-wide alert.

Cape Breton Regional Police say RCMP received a report that the vehicle had been seen in a remote area in South Cove on the morning of December 17th.

It was the one Jackie Davies was last seen driving in Glace Bay on Monday, December 11th.

Ground search and rescue and a helicopter were called to assist, and the deceased person was located Saturday afternoon.

Police say there is no indication of foul play.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office for identification.
