Progressive Conservatives Unofficially Win Sackville-Cobequid Byelection

The Progressive Conservatives have unofficially dethroned the NDP in the Sackville-Cobequid riding.

Elections Nova Scotia reports Steve Craig of the PC won Tuesday’s byelection with 2,655 votes over NDP candidate Lara Fawthrop’s 2,472.

The seat has been held by the NDP for over 30 years.

Liberal candidate Michel Hindlet was third with 658 votes. Green Party Candidate Anthony Edmonds received 488 votes while Atlantica Party candidate David Boyd had 43 votes.

Official results will be released by Elections Nova Scotia Thursday morning following the official addition.

The byelection was needed after the NDP’s Dave Wilson retired last fall.
