Shelburne Municipality Producing Video To Recruit Nurse Practitioners

There is a need for nurse practitioners in Nova Scotia.

The Municipality of Shelburne is doing what it can to bring them to their county.

They paid Harbourtone Production $1,500 to produce a video highlighting Shelburne County to attract nurse practitioners.

CAO Tom MacEwan says it goes beyond the benefits of the new medical clinic.

“But also the lifestyle. You can live on the shore, the white sand beaches, the historic and cultural aspects, the outdoor recreational aspects and then the attractive housing market when you compare it to Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver.”

The video will be shown Wednesday during a recruitment fair at the University of Toronto to more than 80 graduating masters students who are becoming nurse practitioners.

“Part of the video is an interview with a nurse practitioner who has decided to locate here,” says MacEwan.

“They can speak to their peers about why they moved here, what the benefits are of working here and what the benefits are of the lifestyle here.”

It is also expected to be shown to students at Dalhousie University and published on the municipality’s Facebook page and website.
