A company has been hired to take over the interim management and conduct an operations review of the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
The Town of Bridgewater and Municipality of the District of Lunenburg agreed to hire Nustadia Recreation of Hamilton, Ontario.
A $45,000 surplus from the Lunenburg County Multi-Purpose Centre Corporation Board’s 2018-19 budget will go towards hiring the company.
Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell says the company operates facilities across Canada.
“They’re going to be brought in under contract until March 2020 to go through the facility and look at efficiencies, see how we can manage it better and they will report to the board every month on their progress.”
Both municipal units agreed in the fall of 2018 to partner and manage the LCLC.
But, Mitchell says the company specializes in operating facilities.
“We know that operating a facility of this magnitude is a challenge. Their business is just managing these kind of facilities and it was something we wanted to look at. Bringing them in was something we thought was almost a no-brainer.”
Nustadia operates other Nova Scotia facilities including the BMO Centre in Halifax and Dartmouth 4-Pad Complex.
