Barrington hosting sod-turning ceremony for new rec centre

It will be an exciting day in Barrington.

A sod-turning ceremony for the new Recreation complex in Sherose Island is happening on Wednesday, February 7th.

Warden Eddie Nickerson says the community has been waiting a long time.

“I’m very excited. I think it’s going to be a momentous day for the municipality. It’s a beautiful building, and it will address some of the concerns in the community,” said Nickerson.

He says it will have a walking track, multi-purpose room and lots more.

“We aren’t done there. There are other requests coming from the community, and we want to put that infrastructure here as feasibly as possible.”

The province is providing 6 million dollars in funding, it’s expected to open next year.

Construction will get underway fully this spring.
