Moreland Proposes Small Change to Lunenburg Waterfront

Lunenburg town council is open to the idea of improving space along its historic waterfront.

Captain Dan Moreland of the Picton Castle presented a proposal to council late last month.

He would like to see a public green space and waterfront access established near the Bluenose Drive government wharf.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says he had some good suggestions.

“To make it more accessible and usable from a working waterfront perspective and also to make it look better; improve the look and feel of that small area that otherwise was forgotten.”

Bailey says she’s glad to see a citizen recognize potential of some land and share their thoughts with the town.

She adds there was no timeline for work to be done.

Staff were asked to review the idea further and report back to council.
