A large chunk of King Street will be closed to traffic Wednesday evening.
From 7 PM to 2 AM, the street will be closed from Dufferin Street to Empire Street to facilitate an underground infrastructure video assessment.
Patrick Hirtle, Communications for the Town of Bridgewater, said workers will be assessing older waterworks infrastructure between the Old Bridge and Empire intersections.
“Its part of our routine maintenance,” he said.
“We tend to monitor our infrastructure, in particular sewer and water lines underground, and the information we gather from that exploration with the camera then helps to inform our capital budget planning. Not just for the coming year, but for years to come.”
Hirtle said traffic will be diverted to Pleasant St.during the work, but businesses along King will still be accessible by walking.
“We recognize there are businesses in that area, so we want to encourage folks that those businesses are going to remain open for the evening,” he said.
“It may require a two or three minute walk to get from a parking space to the front door, but it’s definitely worth it.”
Curbside parking will still be available during the work along the south and north end of King St., as well as on Pleasant St.
