Latest Awesome Winner To Support Brain Research

It’s strangely appropriate that at Halloween the latest Awesome Foundation winner is looking for brains.

Bernice Williams will use the $1,000 she was awarded in the production of videos encouraging people to donate brains to the Dalhousie University’s brain bank.

Her project called, “No Brainer” raises awareness about the need for medical brain research.

One of those videos talks about the loss of her father to Alzheimer’s.

“So it puts a face to the donations and we’ve agreed to share our story in the hopes it will help someone else.”

A tour of the brain bank was eye-opening for her.

“There were two brains on the table – and I do not have a medical background. It was powerful for me to see the difference, brains actually atrophied with Alzheimer’s.”

The Awesome Foundation awards $1,000 to the most awesome idea each month.
