Northeastern Nova Scotia continues to dig out from a massive snow storm.
It dumped as much as 150 centimetres of snow on some areas of Cape Breton.
The province says work continues to clear roads, and most should be open by the end of the week.
They encourage people in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality to follow the local state of emergency.
Federal emergency preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan says they’re providing assistance.
“Also for helicopter support if we need to move supplies. The Coast Guard will play an important role there, and the Red Cross will be helping out,” said Sajjan.
Extra equipment has also been sent from the western areas of the province and New Brunswick.
Kings/Hants MP Kody Blois says people in his riding dealt with 50 centimetres.
“Which is a significant amount, but not nearly the extent of what’s happening in Cape Breton. I think we’ve all seen the pictures, with really challenging times right now,” said Blois.
He says he’s heard that some can’t get out of their homes, and his thoughts are with everyone going through a rough time.
Road conditions continue to improve across mainland Nova Scotia.
Some roads in Pictou, and other areas, are still partially snow covered.
