A listener wrote us with this dilemma:
My husband and I are about to have our first child, a boy next month and we are at odds over what to name him. My husband wants to honor his grandfather by naming him after him, while I would name the child anything but his grandfather’s name? Why? His grandfather was the town drunk, thrown in jail several times and has been an awful womanizer over the years. I just can’t see saddling my child with a name connected to that man.
Should I stick to my principles and explain to my husband why I am so against naming our child after his grandfather?
