Pretty soon you won’t have to wait as long to get a driver’s test.
The province says Public Works has hired five new driver examiners to work at Access Nova Scotia, and has partnered with Safety Services Nova Scotia to hire and train 10 more.
This will allow for 900 more tests every week.
Hours will also be extended and appointments available on weekends.
Public Works Minister Kim Masland says, “The current wait time is too long. Nova Scotians should be able to get a test for a license when they need it.”
About 10 per cent of appointments are currently missed or not completed; this rate will be improved through reduced paperwork, more reminders and improved translated materials.
The goal is to shrink wait times to about three weeks, rather than the current average of six weeks. The wait time was as high as 22 weeks in August, but efore the pandemic, the average was 10 to 13 weeks.
Those being hired are expected to be on board and trained by the summer.
