Man Convicted Of Sexual Assault In Lunenburg County

A man from Mexico was convicted of sexual assault in Bridgewater court last week.

Gerardo Santiago Morales is now awaiting sentencing after being charged the sexual assault of a sleeping Lunenburg County woman while attending a house party in 2018.

In a written decision released last week, Judge Paul Scovil delivered his decision on Santiago Morales, stating the story given by Santiago Morales, “simply is not believable.”

Scovil also says Santiago Morales’ level of intoxication during the incident played into his decision, as he had consumed a number of beers before the party, as well as whiskey and Tequila during the party.

He says “That description of alcohol consumption leaves me to find that Mr. Santiago Morales was quite intoxicated. This would affect his perception and his judgement during the course of the evening in question.”

Sentencing is expected to be held at a later date.
