The province still hasn’t created a universal lunch program for schools.
The federal government agreed to support a program in 2021.
After cabinet last Thursday, education minister Becky Druhan says they are still waiting for funding details before moving forward.
“We know how important it is for students to have access to healthy and nutritious foods in schools for various reasons, and we continue to work on ways to expand that access,” said Druhan.
Druhan adds she hopes the federal government will step up and support the work.
Nova Scotia was the only province to receive an F grade in a Food Banks Canada report last year on reducing poverty.
