RCMP Boast Another Successful National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day

Just under 4,500 vehicles were checked last month as part of National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.

Nova Scotia RCMP released their numbers from December’s impaired driving enforcement operation which saw 4,477 cars checked and 14 charges and citations laid against drivers.

Of those charged, five people were charged for Driving While Impaired by Alcohol and one for impaired by drug.

Another driver refused to provide a breath sample and was charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with a Demand.

Seven roadside suspensions were also issued due to driving with a Blood Alcohol Content between 50-80 milligrams of alcohol in one hundred millilitres of blood.

Police say that while the operation was a success at keeping impaired drivers off the road, it is more about creating awareness.

The RCMP recommend anyone who suspects an impaired driver report it to their local police services.
