Region of Queens Seeking Public Input To Form New Planning Strategy and Bylaws

The Region of Queens is asking the public to weigh in on a part of its ‘Planning for the Future Project’.

The Municipality is currently developing its Municipal Planning Strategy, which guides the planning process for land uses on how and where businesses, homes, agriculture, and new infrastructure can and should happen, and is looking for public input to help shape the plan.

Mayor David Dagley said community planning is critical for the future growth of the region.

“The revised MPS, Land Use Bylaw and Subdivision Bylaw help to steer economic development, as well as future growth and development of our neighborhoods,” he said.

Over the next few weeks, public meetings will be held throughout Queens to educate residents on the new plan and Land use Bylaw and to collect feedback on the draft plan.

“The Region has worked hard over the past year to hear peoples’ thoughts on how Queens should develop,” said Mike MacLeod, Director of Planning and Development.

“Now we’re really excited to find out if people think we got it right, and how we can improve.”

A draft of the plan has been posted online and can be found here. Information on the times, dates and places of the upcoming meetings will be posted on the same website and at the Region of Queens Facebook page.
